Jeremy Desplanches, who broke a Swiss national record in the men’s 200 IM this past week at French Nationals, will lead a squad of four that will represent Switzerland at the FINA World Championships in Budapest.

Desplanches will compete in the men’s 200 and 400 IM, while Nils Liess will swim the men’s 200 fly. On the womnen’s side, Maria Ugolkova will participate in the 200 IM and 100 free, and Martina van Berkel is scheduled to swim the 200 fly.

A fifth swimmer could end up joining the team as breaststroker Yannick Kaeser, an Olympian who previously swam for the University of Virginia, will be given more time to qualify as he only recently returned to training following an injury.

Two swimmers from Liechtenstein, Julia Hassler and Chrstoph Meier, will accompany the Swiss squad to Budapest, and the Swiss team will be led by Markus Buck and coaches Pablo Kutscher and Dirk Reinicke.
