SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Weekly Channel Recap: May 5, 2007
PHOENIX, Arizona, May 5. WITH news of Amanda Beard posing in Playboy dominating discussion among the swimming community this past week, plenty of other news items made their way onto SwimmingWorldMagazine.com's news channels.
News came out of the USA Swimming camp that Mike Alexandrov, a Bulgarian native who carries dual-citizenship in the U.S., has been awarded with the American record in the 100-yard breaststroke after his efforts at the NCAA Championships. In other news, Brazilians are rewriting some of their record books at the Maria Lenk Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Meanwhile, newlyweds John and Dana Lawrence Lohn debuted a periodic series of a he said/she said nature when they looked at Beard's decision to appear in Playboy. Also, Bob Bowman sat down with Swimming World Radio to discuss the Kentucky Derby and the similarities between training horses and swimmers. In other commentary, Bob Bailie provided a guest piece on the travesty occurring at Rutgers and what Rutgers alums need to do about it.
