SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Weekly Channel Recap: March 10, 2007
PHOENIX, Arizona, March 10. BUSINESS seriously picked up on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com over the past week. First, Swimming World Magazine announced a title sponsorship deal for the Cactus Classic held in the Valley of the Sun in both Scottsdale and Tempe, Ariz. The event will showcase both the meet and our meet coverage capabilities with our various media outlets.
Meanwhile, the women's NCAA Division I Championships has featured four American records thus far – not to mention the news among the coaching ranks that broke over the weekend.
In a move long-rumored, but finally confirmed. Richard Quick will return to Auburn to helm the program with David Marsh moving onto Mecklenburg. In other news, Stanford's men's swimming ran smack into some controversy a week before the men's pinnacle meet as Skip Kenney has been suspended indefinitely based on allegations of media guide tampering as well as some underlying questions about off-season training practices.
In our other departments, senior writer John Lohn kept busy with a premium article on the Richard Quick hiring as well as a complete preview of the women's DI meet by event.
Newsmaster intern Brian Savard kept our readers abreast of the high school state championships occurring throughout the country over the past two weeks, while Assistant Newsmaster Erin Greene covered several Speedo Sectionals. On a personal note, Greene, a former swimmer from Ohio State in her fifth year at the institution, completed her last final this week and is on path to graduate from OSU. Congratulations, Erin!
Additionally, we kept an eye on Dave Denniston, a member of the Swimming World Magazine family, as he went in for spinal surgery.
