Swimming World Rewind: Look Back at Allison Wagner’s 1993 World Record in 200 SCM IM

PHOENIX, Arizona April 13. WITH Kirsty Coventry's world-record performance in the women's 200 IM at the FINA World Short Course Championships in Manchester, the final SCM record from before the turn of the century has fallen to the wayside.

Allison Wagner's 2:07.79 set on Dec. 5 as part of the 1993 FINA World Short Course Championships in Palma de Mallorca, Spain stood for 15 years before Coventry came along.

Swimming World takes a special look back as Wagner's record, as recorded in the February 1994 issue. In an article written by John Oehser of the Florida Times-Union, Swimming World featured Allison Wagner: More Than OK as the cover story in the February 1994 issue.
