The following year, in 1977, the publication expanded even further to include prep school winners. Mission Viejo began seven-year reign as the boys public school winner, while The Peddie School garnered the first prep school crown. In 1987, the editorial staff decided to combine the titles in the boys and girls categories to award an overall titlist for both the boys and girls schools.
