COLLEGE
USC-UTAH
The USC Trojans split their squad and made a two-day trip to Salt Lake City, Utah, to meet the Utes Feb. 22-23. They had a six-event mini-session on the 22nd, and then concluded the meet the next day.

With most of the already NCAA-qualified swimmers left back in Los Angeles, the fourth-ranked Trojans defeated Utah, 183-102. USC improved to a 7-1 record (4-1 in the Pac-12 Conference).

Leading the way for the Trojans were sophomore Cary Wright, who won three events, and freshman Maclin Davis captured two others.

Two Utah freshmen–Josiah Purss and Jacob Crayne–claimed 1-2 in the 3-meter diving event. Utah’s 400 free relay of sophomore Nick Soedel, senior Bjorn Gunnarsson, plus freshmen Kristian Kron and Jonas Holmstroem, ended the meet with a winning 2:58.49, just 3-hundredths off the relay’s season-best time.
