Swedish Freestyler/Butterflyer Oskar Hoff Commits to Tennessee
NEW COMMIT: The University of Tennessee has earned a new commitment for the fall of 2019 from Landskrona, Sweden’s Oskar Hoff.
Primarily a sprint freestyler and butterflyer, Hoff swims year-round with Landskrona Simsällskap under head coach David Söderstjerna and most recently competed at the Swedish Championships this past November where he finaled in four events. A member of the Swedish Swimming Federation, Hoff achieved three lifetime bests at Swedish Nationals this past summer and won the 50m fly at the 2017 Nordic Championships.
He told Swimming World:
”I’m looking forward to continue my academic and swim career at the University of Tennessee. I chose Tennessee because of the phenomenal facilities, academics and coaches. The team is on the rise and I can’t wait to be a part of it! Go Vols!”
In meters, his best times include:
- 50m fly – 25.10 (LCM)
- 100m fly – 54.52 (LCM)
- 200m fly – 2:07.40 (LCM)
- 50m free – 23.08 (SCM)
- 100m free – 50.75 (SCM)
- 200m free – 1:49.81 (SCM)
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 50 fly – 21.96
- 100 fly – 47.86
- 200 fly – 1:51.60
- 50 free – 20.62
- 100 free – 45.68
- 200 free – 1:39.10
When he arrives in Knoxville as a member of the class of 2023, Hoff will add his talents to a sprint group led by Alec Connolly and Josh Walsh as well as a fly group that includes Braga Verhage and Marc Hinawi. Under head coach Matt Kredich, the Vols finished fourth overall at the 2018 SEC Championships.
