Sweden’s Sjoberg Takes Two More on Day Two of Rio World Cup

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 18. SWEDEN'S Johanna Sjoberg added two more victories to the pair she won yesterday to become the winningest swimmer on the first stop of the 2001-2002 FINA World Cup tour.

Sjoberg took the 100m free (54.26) and 50 meter fly (26.68) to go with her wins yesterday in the 50 free and 100 fly.

The USA's Lindsay Benko had no trouble winning the 400 free, as her 4:07.84 was five seconds faster than Ukraine's Yana Klochkova. The Ukrainian won the 400 free at the World Championships in July. Benko, who also finished second to Sjoberg today in the 100 free, won the 200 free/200 back duo yesterday.

Klochkova and Geramny's Jirka Letzin completed their sweeps of the medley events. Klochkova, the world and Olympic champion, won the 400 IM in 4:38,86, as she fought off a surprising Georgina Bardach of Argentina, who set a national record 4:41.09. She won the 100 IM toady in an easy 1:02.55, after taking the 200 yesterday in 2:13.52.

Letzin won the men's 200 IM today in 1:59.03 after sweeping the 400 and 100 meter events yesterday.

Russian WR-holder Roman Sludnov cruised through the 100m breaststroke, winning in 58.76 seconds–almost two seconds faster than Ukraine's Oleg Lisogor, the world champion over 50 meters.
