Nine days after completing her epic swim from Cuba to Florida, Diana Nyad held a phone press conference to answer questions that many doubters have had regarding her completing the Cuba-to-Florida swim in a way that doesn’t go against the standard open water swimming rules. Specifically, those who criticized the swim said Nyad seemed to go faster for about seven hours that her typical pace, which many believed was caused by her holding onto the boat and being pulled along for a brief period. In the roundtable meeting yesterday, Nyad adamantly denied any contact with the boat or anyone on her team.
