Streamlined News: More Brits Added to Olympic Roster; USA Diving Starts Filling Olympic Roster


PHOENIX, Arizona, June 22. TWO more swimmers got their name on Great Britain's Olympic swimming roster today at the summer nationals, which is serving as a second-chance meet for those who missed out in March. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor won the 100 breast in 1:08.04, four tenths under the Olympic cut. And Stephanie Proud, who trains at the University of Florida, will be in the 200 backstroke in London after qualifying today with a 2:09.40.

Chris Walker-Hebborn added the 100 back to his Olympic schedule today with a winning time of 54.26. He'll now race in both backstroke events in London.

Adam Brown, a former standout at Auburn University here in the United States, missed out on making the team in the 50 free by two tenths with a time of 22.36. today. He'll still swim the 400 free relay for Great Britain.

And Rebecca Adlington won the 800 freestyle today in 8:19.03. She's still the only woman who has broken 8:20 in the event in 2012, setting herself up to defend her 2008 gold medal in London.

Four divers made the U.S. Olympic team last night in synchronized diving competition with the women's synchro three-meter event decided by less than a point. Kelci Bryant and Abby Johnston got the win by .42 points over the duo of Christina Loukas and Kassidy Cook. The competition was close throughout the finals, with Bryant and Johnston leading by just 1.32 points going into the last dive.

David Boudia and Nick McCrory, on the other hand, were very dominant in the men's platform synchro event, winning by 180 points over Toby Stanley and Steele Johnson. This will be Boudia's second trip to the Olympics, having dove with Thomas Finchum in the synchro event in Beijing. McCrory will be going to his first Olympics after first rising through the ranks in 2009.

The roster spot in the men's synchro three-meter will be decided today, and the longtime duo of Troy Dumais and Kristian Ipsen is favored to win.
