Streamlined News: May 4, 2012

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 4. INITIAL information regarding Alexander Dale Oen's funeral arrangements has begun to be made public. If you haven't been following the news this week, Norway's world champion Alexander Dale Oen tragically died of an untimely death during altitude training in Flagstaff, Ariz., early in the week. An autopsy was inconclusive, and a final determination of cause of death could take up to two months.

So far, initial funeral information has the service taking place in a small church in Blomvag in the municipality of Ovgarden in Norway. The church only seats 300 people, so the likelihood is that a separate memorial would be set. No date has been set for either the funeral or other memorial.

In other news closer to home, Fresno Pacific named Grand Canyon assistant coach Josh Christensen as its new head coach. The last two seasons, he helped guide Grand Canyon's men's team to a pair of top-five finishes at the NCAA Division II Championships. The GCU women also placed in the top five this year. FPU is currently transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II. Christensen replaces Peter Richardson, who took the head coaching position at the University of Pacific in March.
