Just days after DC Trident general manager Kaitlin Sandeno announced Cyndi Gallagher as the head coach of the ISL team, the team also announced the additions of Rachel Stratton-Mills and Stefanie Williams Moreno as assistant coaches. This comes after Sandeno announced the team would be led by an all-female coaching staff to be the first major professional sports team to do so.

The DC Trident will be swimming in the very first International Swimming League meet in Indianapolis October 5-6 along with the Cali Condors, Aqua Centurions and Energy Standard.

Rachel Stratton-Mills

Stratton-Mills is currently the associate head coach at Arizona State University, having previously served as an assistant coach at both Dartmouth College and the University of Maryland. Prior to this, she also helped coach Lia Neal at Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics to the 2012 Olympic Team when Neal was just 17. Stratton-Mills swam for Gallagher at UCLA where she earned her Bachelor’s of Art in Sociology.

And finally, to complete this inspiring group of all female #DCTrident coaches, Stefanie Williams Moreno! An impressive swimmer herself, (28-time All-American and four-time national champion for @ugaswimdive!), Stefanie was named associate head coach at the University of Georgia last year after six years as a Bulldog assistant. Prior to her time at UGA, Williams Moreno spent four years with the Ohio State women’s team, including serving in 2011-12 as associate head coach. She was an assistant coach for the Missouri’s men and women for three years. She has also held assistant coaching positions with Team USA for the 2018 Pan Pac team, as well as the 2017 Energy Standard meet. We’re thrilled to have Stefanie, along with Rachel and Cyndi, lead our team to victory this season!
