Stanford Women Announce Signing Class

STANFORD, California, November 29. SEVENTH year head coach Lea Maurer and Stanford swimming announced its recruiting class, featuring four swimmers ranked in the top-40 nationally.

Allison Brown (Pleasanton, CA / San Ramon Valley HS) is the highest rated recruit by collegeswimming.com, ranking No. 13, followed by No. 20 Sarah Haase (Rockville, MD / Our Lady of Good Counsel HS), No. 24 Julia Anderson (Fort Worth, TX / Paschal HS) and No. 36 Kaylin Moss (Wilton, CT / Wilton HS). Local product Julia Ama (Palo Alto, CA / Gunn HS) rates No. 81 and Michigan state record holder Jaynie Pulte (Bloomfield Hills, MI / Marian HS) is also in the class.

The East Bay Native, Brown is rated as one of the top-five prep 200 freestylers in the nation, also ranking in the top-15 in the 1000 free. At the 2011 U.S. Nationals at Stanford this summer she was tenth in the senior finals of the 200 IM. Internationally, she was eighth in the 400 free at the World Cup in Singapore in 2011 and sixth at the World Cup in Moscow in 2010, also in the 400 free.

Brown is also one of five Stanford affiliated members on the U.S. Junior National team, joining high school seniors, Anderson, Haase and Moss and current Stanford freshman Maddy Schaefer.

Haase is a two-time member of the U.S. Youth national team and had the nation's second-fastest 100 breaststroke amongst high schoolers in 2010-11. That time, of 1:00.44, would have been in the top-12 at this year's NCAA Championships. She also won a silver in the 50 breast in at the Junior World Championships.

Anderson is a two-time Illinois champion in the 200 free, ranking as the No. 5 best 200 freestyler amongst high schoolers. She was also a runner up at Junior Nationals in the 200 breast.

Moss has been with the U.S. Junior program for three years as a holder of 21 Connecticut state records. Moss was a part of the silver medal winning 200 medley relay team at the Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru this past summer. She entered her senior year ranked No. 92 in the world in the 200 breast and ranks first among 16-year olds in the event.

The sprinter, Ama, ranks No. 7 amongst 16 year olds in the 50 free. She was eighth in the 50 fly at the FINA World Cup in Singapore this past summer. Pultre holds the Michigan state record in the 50 free and is also a former state champion in the 50 free.
