Stanford vs. Southern California

LOS ANGELES, California, February 6. DAVID Dunford, David Mosko and Eugene Godsoe led No. 2-ranked Stanford (6-1, 2-1 Pac-10) to a 174-125 road victory at No. 13-ranked USC (7-3, 1-3 Pac-10) on Saturday afternoon in the team’s final road dual meet of the season.

Dunford posted victories in the 50 and 100 freestyles and led off the final relay of the day, the winning 200 free relay. Dunford’s “B” standard time in the 50 (20.23) was two-tenths in front of teammate Alex Coville (20.47) as the duo handed off to each other on the first half of the relay en route to a “B” standard time of 1:21.16. Dunford also had a time of 44.81 in the 100.

Godsoe swept the backstroke competitions and finished second in the 100 butterfly. His 100 back time (47.53) was a “B” standard mark, while in the 200 back, he touched the wall ahead of three teammates, as the quartet finished 1-4.

Mosko posted winning times in the 200 butterfly (1:46.72) and the 500 freestyle (4:23.28), both “B” standard times.

The meet began with each team trading off wins over the first eight events. Starting with Dunford in the 100, followed by Godsoe (200 back), Curtis Lovelace (200 breaststroke) and Mosko (500) the Cardinal pulled away with four straight victories en route to 10 wins in 16 events.

The Cardinal close out the dual season on February 20 when they host top-five California at the Avery Aquatics Center.
