The Pac-12 Network announced its winter broadcast coverage schedule today. The conference announced it would provide live coverage for both the men’s and women’s Pac-12 Championships, which will both be in Federal Way, Washington.

The network also announced it will air a regular season women’s swimming meet between defending NCAA Champion Stanford and California on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 12 p.m. PT / 1 p.m. MT.

The Cardinal have won three straight duel meets over their huge rival Cal and will look for the four-peat in February. The last time the Golden Bears beat Stanford in a duel was February 2015 when Missy Franklin and company won in Berkeley.

Cal and Stanford are two of the most storied programs in women’s swimming, combining to win six out of the last ten national titles. But in the 2018-19 season, both teams will be without the likes of Katie Ledecky and Kathleen Baker, who both decided to forego their remaining years of eligibility and pursue professional careers.

Stanford has won the last two national titles in women’s swimming and diving and returns senior Ella Eastin and junior Katie Drabot, as well as a loaded freshman class which includes Taylor Ruck and Zoe Bartel.

Cal last won the national title in 2015 and has placed in the top three every year since 2008. They return a talented team that includes seniors Amy Bilquist and Katie McLaughlin as well as junior Abbey Weitzeil and sophomore Sarah Darcel.

The February 16 matchup will be in Berkeley, California.

The Women’s Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships will be February 27-March 2, while the men’s championships will be March 6-9.

That’s “dual meet,” not “duel meet”.

I think you would usually just print Broadcast. Not broadcasted. I know some of these items are press releases but the level of ignorance and lack of attention to editorial detail seems to be increasing on a monthly basis. Is it impossible to spell and grammar check? Or hire an intern to do it? Swimming World is still supposed to be a professional journalistic entity. And student interns writing does not seem to help the case.
