The Stanford women are not the only ones building an impressive Class of 2021. The Cardinal men are following suit and have picked up a verbal commitment from Brennan Pastorek. Pastorek trains with Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team. He is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who attends Savannah Country Day School.

Pastorek shared,

“I chose Stanford because their balance of high level academics and athletics is second to none. Stanford will allow me to pursue my dreams in physics and engineering while also training at the highest level in the pool. Go Cardinal!!”

The summer the National Junior Team member competed in the 200 IM at Olympic Trials. His season then brought him to Junior Nationals where he swam five events. His success in Minnesota included a bronze medal in the 200 IM and a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Pastorek then wrapped up the summer at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships. At that meet he was a B finalist in the 100 backstroke and breaststroke. In the 200 IM he finished seventh.

His best short course times are:

  • 50 Breast 25.47
  • 100 Breast 54.29
  • 200 Breast 1:57.63
  • 200 IM 1:47.98
  • 400 IM 3:53.84

At the Pac 12 Championships last year Pastorek would have been a 200 breaststroke B finalist. Matt Anderson led the team’s breaststroke efforts and will be a junior next fall. Curtis Ogren will be a great match for Pastorek and will be a senior in the 2017-2018 season. In the 200 IM, Pastorek would have landed at the top of last year’s C final. Stanford put three men in the A final of that event. Only Abrahm DeVine will still be on the roster next year.
