St. Mary’s City Speedo Sectional Continues Through Second Night of Action

ST MARY'S CITY, Maryland, July 20. SWIMMING action continued through a second night of long course meter competition at the St. Mary's City Speedo Sectional held in Maryland.

In the women's events, Machine's Michelle Parkhurst won a battle with Long Island Aquatics' 15-year-old Emily Kelly, 2:04.45 to 2:04.97, in the 200 free, while Delaware Swim Team's Christy Williams walked away with the 100 fly crown in 1:02.52.

Scarlet Aquatic Club's Kristen Steenvoorden, 16, won the 400 IM in 4:57.57, while Ithaca Aquatics' team of Lindsey Norberg, Kailey Gardner, Lauren Norberg and Emily Peck captured the 400 freestyle relay title in 4:00.69.

For the men, Express Swimming's Kevin Wakefield touched first in the 200 free in 1:53.02 to hold off Evan Reed (1:53.27) and Louis Vayo (1:53.67), while Matt O'Brien won the 100 fly in 56.84.

Peddie's Josh Charnin-Aker earned the win in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.86, just ahead of Bryan Offutt's 4:32.13, while Peddie's foursome of Derick Chui, Peter Park, Bryce Hillman and Charnin-Aker grabbed the 400 free relay crown in 3:35.48.
