St. Mark’s Edges Field in the Delaware Women’s Competition

NEWARK, Delaware, April 4. ST. MARK'S topped the female competitors at the 2007 Delaware High School State Meet. St. Mark's swept all three relays en route to a 350-point team title. Charter used its depth to claim a second-place finish with 313 points while Tatnall took third overall with 294 points.
The St. Mark's 200 medley relay grouping of Madison Morrison, Alyssa Hand, Morgan McCarthy and Becca Wilson recorded a 1:51.21 time and claimed first. St. Mark's relay containing Katie Steeves, Beth Maxwell, Wilson and Hand edged out Tatnall in the 200 freestyle relay, earning the team's second relay win of the meet in 1:42.67. In the 400 freestyle relay, St. Mark's completed the trifecta with the foursome of Steeves, Heather MacLennan, Morrison and McCarthy (3:41.78).
Nicole Osman of Newark claimed the top spot in both of her events. In the 200 I.M., Osman bested the field with a 2:06.16 finish. Osman trumped the field in the 100 butterfly as well with a 57.37 time in the final.
Tatnall's Nicole Vernon outswam the competition in both of her events, winning the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:55.60 and the 500 freestyle in 5:02.79.
Charter's Hannah Swift captured the diving competition with a score of 365.15. Katie Lounsbury of Tatnall finished second (280.10) and Caitlin Starr from A.I. du Pont placed third (278.30).
