Sprinter Paige Mitchell Commits to University of Massachusetts

The University of Massachusetts Amherst has earned a verbal commitment from Paige Mitchell for the 2017-2018 season. Mitchell swims for the Academy Bullets in Illinois. She attends Lyons Township High School where she is a team captain.
Mitchell shared,
“Very excited to have verbally committed to swim at UMass next year! I can’t wait to continue my athletic and academic career with a great team at an amazing school. UMass is a great fit for me and provides many opportunities on and off the pool deck. Looking forward to the next four years! Go UMass!”
Her best times are:
- 50 Free 24.58
- 100 Free 53.25
- 200 Free 1:52.46
- 50 Back 28.43
Last fall at the Illinois Girls Sectional Championships Mitchell won the 200 and 500 freestyle. She then went on to swim both events at the 2015 Illinois Girls State Championships. UMass finished fourth at the 2016 A-10 Championships. She’ll join a sprint group led by Ansley Baker and Dasha Egkorova when she joins the Minutemen next fall.
