NEW COMMIT: Nation’s Capital’s Livi Schmid will head west next fall, electing to verbally commit to the University of Denver. The Fairfax Station, VA swimmer is primarily a sprint freestyler. The senior at Robinson Secondary School is a multiple time Virginia 6A state finalist.

At last year’s state championship Schmid finished fifth in the 50 free (24.06) and seventh in the 100 free (52.65). She also anchored the team’s sixth place 200 free relay and seventh place 400 free relay.

Schmid’s best times are:

  • 200 Free 1:51.63
  • 100 Free 51.82
  • 50 Free 23.99
  • 200 Back 2:06.69
  • 100 Back 58.43

With her lifetime best times Schmid should be an instant contributor to the Pioneers. She would have been in the 100 freestyle A final at last year’s Summit League Championships. Denver had five of the top eight in that event, putting Schmid in a great position to walk into a strong sprint program. Her lifetime best would also make her a 50 freestyle B finalist.

She told Swimming World,

“So excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Denver! Huge thank you to all of my family, friends, and coaches for the immense support throughout my journey. Go Pioneers!”
