Sprinter Devon Chenot Verbally Commits to Penn State

NEW COMMIT: Devon Chenot has given his verbal commitment to swim for Penn State University beginning next fall. Chenot is from Carlisle, Pennsylvania and swims for Carlisle Family YMCA. He’s a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a multiple time YMCA Nationals qualifier.

Chenot is a sprinter, strongest in freestyle. His top times are:

  • 50 Free 21.02
  • 100 Free 46.40
  • 100 Fly 51.30

The senior at Carlisle Area High School told Swimming World,

“Excited to announce my verbal commitment to Penn State University. I chose PSU for the family atmosphere, world class academics, and high level athletics.”

At last year’s Pennsylvania AAA High School swimming state championships Chenot finished eighth in the 50 freestyle with a 20.86. He was also eighth in the 100 freestyle, touching in 46.28.

At the Big Ten Championship last season Penn State scored points from just Shane Ryan in the 50 free. He was a senior. Sprinters Tomer Zamir and Stergios Dikos will be seniors when Chenot gets to campus. Austin Wilson, Billy Beard, Liam Veregin, and Bryson Hunter were all 50 freestylers who will overlap with Chenot for two years.  

North Carolinian Teddy Perelli has also verbally committed to Penn State’s Class of 2022
