Elsewhere on a busy final night:
Teagan O’Dell added to her haul of medals by winning the 200 backstroke. She went 1:51.95 to get the win, just holding off Grace Raab’s 1:52.13. Maggie Wanezek was the only other swimmer under 1:55 in taking third in 1:54.04.
O’Dell also led off Mission Viejo’s 400 free relay in 48.24, helping the Nadadores win in 3:16.28. Teia Salvino, Chloe Stinson and Gracyn Aquino rounded out that squad, which defeated runner-up Bellevue by more than two seconds.
O’Dell’s leadoff leg would’ve won the 100 free individual event. Instead, she went 48.36 in that swim, leaving her second behind Leah Hayes by a scant .01 seconds. Annika Parkhe (48.62) and Ava De Anda (48.80) also broke 49 seconds. Caroline Larsen, the second seed out of prelims, was disqualified for a false start after posting what appeared to be the top time in finals.
Paige Downey started the session by winning the girls mile in 16:11.21. She was nearly eight seconds up on Ella Cosgrove, with Bailey Hartman third in 16:27.52.
Hartman wasn’t done for the evening, completing a grueling double by winning the 200 fly later in the night by 1:55.10. She was more than a second clear of the field, Camden Doane second in 1:56.23. Kelsey Zhang added a 1:56.47 to take home third place.
Hayes added a second medal by going 2:09.68 in the 200 breaststroke. But she was denied gold by .39 seconds thanks to Piper Enge’s time of 2:09.29. Raya Mellott finished third.
The boys meet began with Max Carlsen winning the 1,650 free in 14:59.44. Jones Lambert was eight seconds back, followed by Thomas Olsen another second in arrears.
Brady Johnson went 1:42.69 to win the 200 back. His time bested Gavin Keough, who went 1:43.14, and Szymon Mieczkowski’s 1:44.12.
Marre Gattner was second to Williamson in the 100 free. He went 43.06. Evan Croley and Quin Seider ended up in the 43.2s, while Cooper Lucas finished fifth in 43.52.
Lucas went on to claim the 200 fly in 1:44.13. He bested Aiden Musick’s time of 1:44.91. Logan Noguchi got on the podium in 1:45.48.
Jake Eccleston had no issue taking home the 200 breast title, even with Williamson trailing him. He beat Williamson by more than two seconds and nearly took down the Speedo Juniors West record set in 2021 by Zhier Fan, falling .03 short.
FMC Aquatic finished the night by winning the 400 free relay in 2:56.17. Max Goettsch, Dominic Mazurek, Brady Johnson and Nate Harris comprised that squad. Noguchi split 43.40 off the end to lead Rose Bowl Aquatics to a second-place result.
