Speedo Performance of the Week, Presented By Pace Club: April 30, 2013

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 30. FOUR countries held world championship trials in the past week, and there were a lot of great swims to choose from for our Performance of the Week.

From Brazil and Germany to Australia and Ireland, swimmers put themselves at the top of the world rankings in a number of events, but Steffen Deibler's 51.10 in the 100 fly stood out more than others. Not only is it the fastest swim of 2013 so far, but the time would have won the Olympic gold medal last year. Deibler has never won a major international medal in the 100 fly, finishing fourth in the 100 fly at last year's Olympics and 14th at the 2011 world championships, but he now has to be viewed as a gold medal contender.

Congratulations, Steffen. You've won the Speedo Performance of the Week.
