ORLANDO, Florida, March 19. WHEN two swimmers tie in a race, it’s a thrilling moment for the crowd. When two swimmers post the same time in different meets to share the national age group record – that’s remarkable.

We couldn’t ignore the great battle this past weekend between Destin Lasco and Vinny Marciano in the backstroke events at two meets on the East Coast. The two posted matching times of 24.59 in the 50-yard backstroke to lay equal claim to the national age group record. We certainly hope this is a rivalry that lasts for many years!
