Southern California Swimming Announces Search For New Executive Director
Southern California Swimming has recently announced that they are searching for a new Executive Director.
The job was originally posted on the fourth of October and will close on November 5, 2016. The main priorities of the position would be to oversee and direct staff/volunteers and assist in departments whenever necessary so as to operate a large LSC and help it to accomplish the stated Mission and Vision statement.
Southern California Swimming’s LSC serves the counties of: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

Description of Position
Oversees and directs staff and volunteers and assists in departments necessary to operate a large LSC in accomplishing its stated Mission and Vision Statement.
Mission
Southern California Swimming shall promote swimming for the benefit of swimmers of all ages and abilities, in accordance with the standards, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (“FINA”), United States Swimming, Inc. (“USA Swimming”) and SCS.
Vision
Southern California Swimming’s vision is to educate, instruct and train members to develop and improve their capabilities in the sport of swimming to each individual’s maximum level of achievement.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintain viable functioning administrative office available to the public.
- Hire and supervise staff
- Ensure for accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting
- Maintain accurate payroll and Tax records.
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements.
- Maintain Credit lines and relationship with banks.
- Maintain and expand mobile and Web based exposure with programmers.
- Maintain all records of Pool Certification.
- Maintain and prepare Board of Directors with all scheduling demands. Provide Board and General Chair with up to date information regarding USA Swimming priorities.
- Maintain By-laws, policies and procedures.
- Consult and develop Annual Budget
- Set up travel for Meets.
- Handle Membership issues , and ensure follow up.
- Supervise and assist in all USA Swimming membership requirements.
- Interact with USA Swimming staff in regard to SCS.
- Publish and be responsible for annual swim guide (including accurate information, ads, review of procedures and arranging printing and distribution).
- Maintain relations with other organizations similar but not exclusive to: CIF, Y, Universities.
- Marketing the LSC
Required Skills, Abilities and Certifications
- Computer and software proficient (Windows, Excel, Word recommended).
- Valid Drivers License
- Budget, accounting and financial skills allowing for forecasting and monitoring precise data.
- Strong Communication skills.
Recommended
- College Degree (Bachelor’s)
- Exposure to Competitive Swimming or similar sport.
- Previous Management, Marketing, Financial experience preferred.
