The Summit League office announced South Dakota as the host of the Summit League Cross Country Championships and the Summit League Swimming & Diving Championships for 2017-18 on Thursday.
The three-time defending Summit League women’s champions, South Dakota will host the Summit League Cross Country Championships for the first time at the Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion. The meet is slated for Oct. 28. In addition to South Dakota’s three women’s titles, the Coyotes have a pair of runner-up finishes on the men’s side and one second-place finish on the women’s side since joining the league in 2011.
The Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships move into the new Midco® Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., for the first time this season with the Coyotes as the designated host. It will be the first swimming and diving championships held outside Indianapolis since 2013. The meet is scheduled for Feb. 14-17.
Headlining the schedule is the Summit League Basketball Tournament’s return to Sioux Falls for the 10th consecutive season with the fourth-straight tournament held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
Five of the league’s eight schools will host championships with North Dakota State hosting a league-high three. South Dakota, Oral Roberts and Denver will host two apiece.
