NEW COMMIT: Cayce, South Carolina’s Nathan Walton has verbally committed to spend his college career at the state’s flagship school, the University of South Carolina. Walton is a senior at Brookland-Cayce High School and trains with Palmetto Aquatics.

Walton wrote in his announcement made on Twitter,

“Proud to announce my commitment to spend the next four years of my swimming career at the University of South Carolina. Go cocks”

He’s primarily a sprinter. Walton’s top times are:

  • 50 Free 21.22
  • 100 Free 46.40
  • 50 Back 24.37
  • 100 Back 50.33
  • 100 Fly 50.95

Now sophomore Will Countie was the Gamecocks’ only 2017 SEC 100 backstroke scorer who will still be on the roster by Walton’s arrival. That training group will also include Countie’s classmate Kevin LiuWilliam Riggs and Justin Rose were the team’s leading underclassmen in the 100 fly last year.
