South Carolina Swim Club’s Zachary Moody Commits to Ball State University
NEW COMMIT: Charleston, S.C. native Zachary Moody has announced his commitment to Ball State University as a member of the class of 2023.
Moody swims year-round with South Carolina Swim Club and most recently competed at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals where he recorded four best times and finished 16th in the mile after registering five top-15 finishes at the South Carolina SCY Championships. This past summer, he competed in seven events at South Carolina LCM Championships with his highest finish being a pair of ninth-place showings in the 800m/1500m free.
Also competing for Academic Magnet School, Moody is an eight-time South Carolina 3A State Championship finalist. He finished third in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 IM as a senior after taking second in both events during his junior season.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to finally announce my commitment to swim and study at Ball State University in the fall! My goals in this sport align with the direction that Coach J is taking the team, and I am thrilled to be a part of this upward trajectory. I’d like to thank my family, friends, and all of my coaches over the years who have helped me to reach my goals. I can’t wait to spend my next four years as a Cardinal! Chirp Chirp!”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:44.79
- 500 free – 4:41.83
- 1000 free – 9:44.33
- 1650 free – 16:21.53
- 200 IM – 1:58.60
When he suits up for the Cardinals at the start of the 2019-20 season, Moody will add his talents to a freestyle group that’ll include Davis Meyn and Jack Luddy. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 500 free at the 2019 Mid-American Conference Championships where Ball State finished fifth overall in the team standings.
