Snow Swimming’s Regan Holstein Commits to Duquesne University
NEW COMMIT: Backstroker and freestyler Regan Holstein of Ashburn, Va. has committed to Duquesne University and will arrive in Pittsburgh in the fall of 2020.
Holstein swims year-round with Snow Swimming and finished 10th in the 200m back this past summer at TYR Seniors after taking eighth in the 800m free at the PVS 13&O LCM Championships. Last winter, she recorded a pair of top-15 finishes at Potomac Valley Seniors before going on to take ninth in the mile at Christiansburg Sectionals.
Also competing for Briar Woods High School, Holstein is a five-time Virginia 5A State Championship finalist. She placed ninth in the 500 free and 14th in the 100 back as a junior while finishing 13th in the former event during her sophomore season.
She told Swimming World:
“I look forward to continuing my academic and athletic careers at such a great school! I’m so excited to be a part of the Duquesne family. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way, especially my family, coaches and teammates.”
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 27.92
- 100 back – 58.29
- 200 back – 2:04.81
- 500 free – 5:07.28
- 1000 free – 10:30.29
- 1650 free – 17:36.37
Holstein will add valuable backstroke and freestyle depth to the Dukes’ lineup when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2025. Her times are just on the brink of scoring range at the A-10 Championship level, but she has consistently made improvements each season.
