SMU Classic, Day One

DALLAS, Texas, January 13. THE SMU men’s swimming and diving team opened day one of The Classic @ SMU with victories in two of the night’s events. Freshman diver Devin Burnett won the one-meter dive with a score of 329.50. Junior standout Mindaugas Sadauskas tied Bradley deBorde of Florida for first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.36.

No. 4 Michigan leads The Classic @ SMU with 165 points, followed by USC (148) and Florida (139.50). North Carolina (128) holds a slight advantage over SMU (125.50). Purdue is in sixth with 113 points.

Sophomore Ryan Koops earned runner-up honors in the B-Final of the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 20.74.

The Mustangs earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly as David Larsson swam the A-Final in 47.96 and Blaz Korosec finished the B-Final in 50.14.

The Classic @ SMU resumes tomorrow at Perkins Natatorium at 7:30 p.m.
