NEW COMMIT: Colorado Springs, Colorado’s Meredith Rees has committed to the University and Missouri and will join the Tigers as a member of the class of 2023.

Rees does her club swimming with Pikes Peak Athletics and owns five Winter Juniors (or faster) standards with a U.S. Open cut in the 100 back. She was a six-time finalist at Rochester Futures this summer where her highest finish was a sixth-place showing in the 100m free. She placed 17th in the 100 back at Juniors West last winter and was the 50 free runner-up at Colorado Seniors with five addition top-12 finishes in February.

Also competing for Lewis Palmer High School, Rees is a six-time Colorado 5A State Championships. She finished second in the 100 back and third in the 100 free as a junior after placing second in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free during her sophomore campaign. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also took sixth in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 free during her freshman season.

She told Swimming World:

“I have committed to the Univerity of Missouri because of the amazing coaching staff and the welcoming team culture. At Mizzou I will have the opportunity to not only become a better athlete, but a better person. Go Tigers!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 54.21
  • 200 back – 1:57.97
  • 50 free – 23.25
  • 100 free – 50.13
  • 100 fly – 54.48
  • 200 IM – 2:02.42

Rees will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Tigers in the fall of 2019. She’ll add valuable sprint and fly depth following the graduation of Annie Ochitwa and will join a backstroke group that includes Haley Hynes and Audrey Guyett. She would’ve scored in the C-final of the 100 back at the 2018 SEC Championships where Missouri finished sixth overall in the team standings.
