Simpson swimming coach Tom Caccia joined the second hall of fame of his illustrious career in early May when he was inducted into the Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

One of the most well-respected coaches in the country before ever setting foot on Simpson’s campus, Caccia was inducted into the Hall of Fame in a banquet held May 7, 2017.

Before coming to Simpson, Caccia — who just completed his fourth year with the Storm — spent 30-plus years as a high school coach in Wisconsin, putting together an impressive resume.  Caccia won four Wisconsin High School State Swimming Coach of the Year honors and was a finalist for the national coach of the year award. He led Platteville High School to more than 370 dual meet victories throughout his career, coaching 20 all-state athletes and 80 Academic All-Americans.

“I’m very honored and humbled by this recognition,” he said. “It’s the kind of recognition you could never expect or anticipate. I was very blessed to have such great kids to work with and a supportive administration. To be able to continue doing what I love at Simpson has been more than I could have imagined. I hope I can continue to work with such great people for many more seasons.”

Caccia is also a member of the Wis.-Platteville Athletic Hall of Fame. Caccia swam at Platteville from 1974-77, setting 25 school records and qualifying for nationals twice.

Hired as head coach of the Storm in 2013, Caccia ushered in a new era by starting the school’s first diving program. Since taking over, Caccia has helped the Storm set a combined 58 school records at the Liberal Arts Championships the past four seasons. His teams also excel in the classroom, winning the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Award nine times in a row.
