Bloomsburg Shines at Crimson Hawk Invitational

At the Crimson Hawk Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Bloomsburg mens and women teams  took first overall. It was a close meet between the Huskies and the Crimson Hawks on both sides, with the Huskies winning the men’s meet 600.7-684.5 and the women’s 574.7-565.0.

Men’s meet

The men’s duel meet scores were Indiana University of PA 283.00 vs Gannon University 1:03.00;  Bloomsburg University 216.00 vs Indiana University of PA 177.00; Bloomsburg University 266.00 vs Gannon University 99.00.

The Huskies took first place in all of the relays this weekend the 200 freestyle relay (1:21.41), 400 medley relay (3:29.82), 200 medley relay (1:35.42) and 400 freestyle relay (3:08.12). The Crimson Hawk men took the top two spots in the 500 freestyle with Alex Plimpton winning with a 4:49.54 and Chris Strauss (4:52.97) taking second.

Bloomsburg’s Samuel Feiser (21.20),Eric Usbeck (21.38) and Pat Stasio (21.85) swept the 50 freestyle,taking the top three spots. The Huskies also took the top two spots in the 100 fly and 100 breast on day two.

In session three, Gannon gained some group in the 100 IM and 200 breaststroke. Nils Grappler (54.88) and Mike Weiser (55.18) went one, two in the 100 IM and Denys Fedorchenko won the 200 breast in a 2:09.42.

Women’s Meet

The women’s duel met scores were Indiana University of PA 222.00 vs Gannon University 154.00; Bloomsbury University 202.00 vs Indiana University of PA 151.00; Bloomsbury University 248.00 vs Gannon University 121.00.

The Bloomsburg women also won all four of the relays this weekend with a 1:39.96 in the 200 freestyle relay, 4:01.27 in the 400 medley relay, 1:50.90 in the 200 medley relay and 3:38.35 in the 400 freestyle relay. IPU’s

Bloomsburg swept the top three spots in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, respectively. Gannon’s Madeline Summers won the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.65.

Brita Otwell had a stand out meet this weekend winning the 500 freestyle (5:12.52), 1000 freestyle (10:24.84) and 200 butterfly (2:10.11).
