Sera Hanagan, Korrie Tengan Pledge Verbal Commitments to Fresno State University
NEW COMMIT: Fresno State University has officially begun their class of 2025 recruiting after receiving a pair of verbal commitments from Cave Creek, Az. native Sera Hanagan and Korrie Tengan of Hilo, Hawaii.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Fresno State! Thank you to all my coaches, teammates and family who have helped me reach this point. Go Bulldogs!!”
A talented distance freestyler and IMer, Hanagan swims year-round with Scottsdale Aquatic Club and placed third in the mile, fourth in the 1000, sixth in the 400 IM, and ninth in the 500 free at Arizona Seniors in February. Last summer, she earned five best times at Mount Hood Sectionals before going on to earn silver in the 400m IM at Arizona LCM Seniors.
Her best times include:
- 400 IM – 4:28.70
- 1650 free – 17:19.72
- 200 IM – 2:07.52
- 500 free – 5:03.49
- 1000 free – 10:20.65
- 400m IM – 5:09.14
- 400m free – 4:37.52
Also competing for Cactus Shadows High School, Hanagan was named Girls’ MVP as a freshman and is a six-time Arizona DII State Championship finalist. She placed third in the 200 IM and seventh in the 500 free as a junior while also swimming on the second-place 4×50 and 4×100 free relay teams. She also took seventh in the 200 IM in 2019 at the Meet of Champions.

Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am very happy to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Fresno State! I chose Fresno State for an amazing opportunity to explore a new place and make new memories to last me a lifetime. I would like to thank my family, coaches, friends, and teammates for supporting me through this journey. I can’t wait to be a Bulldog!”
A versatile swimmer, Tengan does her club swimming with Warrior Aquatic Club and most recently won two events at Hawaii Age Groups where she also recorded five additional top-5 finishes. She was the runner-up in both IM events at Hawaii LCM Seniors last summer and earned 100% best times at Hawaii LCM Age Groups.
Her best times include:
- 200 IM – 2:04.91
- 400 IM – 4:28.74
- 100 fly – 56.55
- 200 fly – 2:05.45
- 100 breast – 1:04.74
- 200 breast – 2:22.11
A rising senior at Waiakea High School, Tengan is a six-time Hawaii State Championship finalist. She placed third in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 IM as a junior while taking second in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 back during her sophomore season.
