Sectional Champion Kai-min Tsuei of Trident Swim Club Verbals to Air Force
NEW COMMIT: The United States Air Force Academy has received a new verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Kai-min Tsuei of Hacienda Heights, Calif.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to be able to continue my swimming and academic career at the Air Force Academy. I chose this school specifically because I just love the Air Force environment as well as the coaches and swimmers. I feel academy will help me to achieve my dreams and aspirations.”
Primarily a backstroker, Tsuei trains year-round with Trident Swim Club and most recently finaled in both the 100m and 200m back at Santa Clarita Futures last month after winning those events at Fullerton Sectionals. She also competed at the Toyota U.S. Open in December and took eighth in the 200 back at the 18&U Spring Cup in Irvine.
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 26.47
- 100 back – 55.75
- 200 back – 2:01.32
- 50 free – 23.77
Tsuei also competes for Diamond Bar High School, placing third in the 100 back and sixth in the 50 free as a senior at the CIF DI Section Championships. As a sophomore, the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American raced to 14th in the 100 back at the CIF State Championships.
Tsuei will make a big impact right off the bat at Air Force. She would’ve ranked No. 2 on their lineup last season in the 50 free and 100/200 back, scoring in the A-final of both backstroke events at the 2021 Mountain West Championships.
