The SEC returns to swimming action this week as teams from around the country return to school from winter break and training trips.

For the SEC, it is a week of interconference invasion.

One of the biggest meets of the week is one of those invasion meets as the Louisville Cardinals head west to face Missouri.

This is a battle of ranked teams on both sides. The Louisville men are ranked No. 8, while the Missouri men are No. 17. On the women’s side, Louisville is No. 6, while Missouri is No. 19.

The Tigers are led by junior Nick Alexander, who was recently named to the Team USA roster for the Pan American Games.

This season, Alexander ranks sixth nationally in the 200 back (1:39.98), seventh in the 200 IM (1:43.04) and 13th in the 100 back (45.93). He was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Men’s Swimmer of the Week on No. 20 after three event wins, four personal best times and a school record (100 back) and the Mizzou Invite.

As a sophomore in 2018, Alexander made placed fifth in the 200 back at the SEC Championships and made his first NCAA Championships appearance.

Meanwhile, the Louisville women are led by Mallory Comerford, coming off of an American record performance at short course worlds. She also won gold on a couple of relays for Team USA.

Texas will swim against Auburn on Thursday, then Georgia on Saturday. For more on those matchups, check out our Big 12 Weekly Preview.

LSU also hosts a non-conference meet with Incarnate Word and Delta State heading to Baton Rouge on Saturday.
