Scottsdale’s 8k Night Run is Back May 11, 2013

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona, March 4. NIGHT Run to benefit Workshops for Youth and Families is coming up soon! On May 11, 2013 the 25-year-old tradition will once again hit the streets of Old Town Scottsdale. The race includes an 8k run or a 3mile run/walk option.

“This is a USA Track & Field Certified course, which sets us apart from many of the other, more playful night races,” race director Tricia Schafer told Swimming World. “Three state age group records were set at The Night Run 2012, and we drew a nice field of elites.”

Check out the 8k results from the 2012 race.

The event, this year sponsored by K2 Adventures Foundation, SCF Arizona, GoDaddy.com, Security Title, and Oh Yeah! Nutrition, regularly draws over a thousand participants. All proceeds go to the Workshops for Youth and Families, a Scottsdale-base nonprofit that provides day and weeklong workshops for teens and families. The goal of these workshops is to help foster personal leadership, character development and resiliency.

The 8k loop starts at the Scottsdale City Hall, winds through the historic nightclub district along the greenbelt and ends just north of Scottsdale Stadium. The race is an attractive option for age group Triathletes training for Ironman distance events.
