Ohio State Swim Club senior Elise Barbour has given her verbal commitment to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Barbour does not compete in high school swimming, but is focused on backstroke.

Her best times are:

  • 100 Back 59.15
  • 200 Back 2:05.89
  • 200 IM 2:07.87
  • 400 IM 4:30.32

Barbour said of her decision,

“I chose SCAD for the amazing swim team and the top interior design program. I fell in love with the school, the location and the swimming program immediately. The team felt like a family and I loved the coaches. It’s my dream school, and I’m ecstatic to be a Bee!”

SCAD competes in the NAIA and won the 2016 National title. Barbour will be a significant contributor. At last year’s meet she would have been a 100 backstroke B finalist. Freshman Julie Henninger (59.08) was the Bee’s second best finisher and will still be on campus next fall when Barbour moves to Georgia. In the 200 backstroke she would have finished sixth and been the team’s only A finalist.

In the 400 IM Barbour’s best time would have placed her fourth. Future teammate Rebecca Justus (4:27.05) took home bronze last year. She’ll be a senior in the 2017-2018 season. Barbour would also be a 200 IM A finalist, behind Justus.
