Sarah Sjostrom To Focus On 50 Free And Fly In Fukuoka: No 100 Free

Sarah Sjostrom will focus on the 50 fly and freestyle plus relays at the World Championships in Fukuoka.

The Swede will not compete in the 100 free in which she won silver at last year’s worlds in Budapest behind Australia Mollie O’Callaghan.

The news of Sjostrom’s programme was confirmed to Swimming World with the 29-year-old looking for a fifth straight title in the 50 fly after gold in the Hungarian capital.

Sjostrom has rewritten the record books in the event on multiple occasions: she was the first woman to win three straight world fly titles when she claimed victory at Gwangju 2019 before making it four last year ahead of Melanie Henique and Zhang Yufei.

The 20-time world medallist also won her fourth straight medal and second consecutive gold in the 50 free in 2022.

Sjostrom will also compete in up to four relays in the women’s and mixed 4×100 free and medley.
