Sarah Sjostrom pocketed her fourth title of the meet at the Swedish Summer Championships with a blistering effort in the 50 free.

Sjostrom sprinted her way to third in the world rankings in the women’s 50-meter free with a sizzling time of 24.20.  That is faster than her sixth-ranked season best of 24.47 from the Canet stop of the Mare Nostrum meet.

Sjostrom still has some time to drop this summer to eclipse Therese Alshammar’s Swedish record of 23.88 from 2009.

Lindborg’s 100 back pr is 1:01.14 from prelims of last year’s Euro Championships in Berlin. The Swedish record is 59.98 from this year’s Eindhoven Swim Cup end of March. Any guesses as to who might be the record-holder? Hint: her f!orte is NOT on her back although 59,9 ain’t too shabby!

Sarah could hold all the Swedish records but the breaststrokes if she wanted. 50 free is the only hard one to break for her(23.88) that she doesn’t have already. Not that I think she’s interested in swimming 800/1500/400IM. But I’m thinking she’ll at least take down the 200 back, 200 fly and 200 medley records one of these days when it fits her schedule. She’s got the 50/100 back, 100/200/400 free and 50/100 bu records on LC.

I like that she showed some speed in the 500 free for really the first time this season. Bodes well for the 100!
