Sarah Denninghoff Latest Swimmer to Accept Invite to Team USA’s Duel in the Pool

AUSTIN, Texas, October 14. WHILE the Texas A&M Aggie women have been owning most of the spotlight with their commitments to compete as part of Team USA at the Duel in the Pool, the Texas Longhorns made a move today with backstroker Sarah Denninghoff accepting a spot.

The meet will feature Team USA vs. the European All Stars Dec. 20-21 in Glasgow, Scotland, and Denninghoff is almost assured of competing in the 100 and 200 backstroke events as well as make a mark in relay duty. This is Denninghoff’s first senior level international meet.

Denninghoff, a 16-time All-American, is definitely a threat in the backstroke at this meet. She clocked a 59.75 in the 100-meter back at U.S. Nationals, the third fastest by an American this year. She also posted a 2:09.14 in the 200-meter back at the U.S. Open for the fourth best time by an American in 2013.

Denninghoff is in her final collegiate season after transferring to Texas last year from Arizona.
