Avalon Schultz has verbally committed to swim for the University of Wisconsin next year. Schultz swims for Santa Clara Swim Club and is a senior at Cupertino High School.
Schultz shared,
“I chose Wisconsin because it provides me with the opportunity to swim for four more years for another amazing team, as well as get a good education in a beautiful city.”
Her best times are:
- 50 Breast 29.87
- 100 Breast 1:03.36
- 200 Breast 2:17.69
- 200 IM 2:03.67
Schultz had a big summer, making her first Summer Junior Nationals cut with a 1:11.96 100 meter breaststroke, good for a second place finish at Futures (Stanford).
Wisconsin posted a sixth place finish at Big Ten Championships last year. At the moment, Schultz is about two seconds shy of scoring in the 200 and a half second away in the 100. After a breakout summer, more fast swims could be on the horizon. When she makes the move next fall, she’ll join a breaststroke group that was led by Maria Carlson and Anna Meinholz last year.
