Ryan Netzel Lends Verbal Commitment to University of Wyoming

NEW COMMIT: Ryan Netzel recently announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Wyoming. The Plainfield, Illinois native is ranked 11th overall in the state and was a finalist at the 2017 IHSA Boy’s State Championships. At last year’s championships, he finished sixth in finals of the 200 free and seventh in finals of the 500 free.

Netzel, now a senior, primarily specializes in mid-distance/distance freestyle, while also swimming backstroke from time-to-time.

His best times (in SCY) include:

  • 50 free – 21.83
  • 100 free – 46.95
  • 200 free – 1:39.33
  • 500 free – 4:27.58
  • 100 back – 54.40

According to his CollegeSwimming account,

“I chose the University of Wyoming because of the energetic and knowledgeable coaching staff and the welcoming team environment. The campus is amazing and the surrounding area provides an abundance of outdoor activities. GO POKES!”

Outside of the high school season, Netzel represents Delta Aquatics in Illinois and has swam at the NCSA Spring Junior National Championships, as well as the 2017 Speedo Champions Series in Minneapolis.
