Ryan Murphy, Bridget Konttinen Celebrate Wedding, Full of Cal Energy
Six-time Olympic medalist Ryan Murphy and Bridget Konttinen were married this weekend.
Murphy posted several pictures to his Instagram account, announcing the nuptials.
The couple was engaged in May of 2022.
Murphy, a two-time Olympian and one of the leaders for USA Swimming, began dating Konttinen while both were students and athletes at the University of California-Berkeley. While Murphy starred in the pool, Konttinen excelled on top of the water as a rower. Cal’s rowing program, like the Golden Bears in swimming, is among the finest in the country.
Ryan Murphy, 28, won the World Championship in the 100 backstroke earlier this year. It was especially sweet after winning silver behind Tomas Ceccon in Budapest last year, fourth in Gwangju in 2019 and bronze in 2017.
He swept both backstroke gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, claiming silver in the 200 and bronze in the 100 backstroke events in Tokyo.
The wedding was packed with Cal swimmers of past and present, giving the wedding a team and family vibe at the same time.
“It was insane,” Ryan Murphy told Swimming World. “Huge energy.”

Congratulations!
Congrats Murph!👏👏
