Rob Baker Breaks AUSSI Masters Records

By Graham Senders, Australian Masters correspondent

PERTH, Australia, April 7. ROD Baker gets faster. At the carnival hosted by Melville AUSSI Masters on Sunday, the Mandurah club's 81 year-old broke his Australian long course records in the 80-84 Age Group 50m and 200m backstroke.

On a warm autumn day in the indoor pool, Baker swam 3:41.96 taking 8.05 seconds off the 200m backstroke record he set in the Melville carnival at the same time last year. He backed up in the single lap backstroke in 45.65, shaving 0.02 off the mark he set at the 2008 FINA World Masters Championships in Perth last April.
