Riptide’s Elizabeth Bonneville Will Stay In State With Verbal Pledge to St. Thomas
NEW COMMIT: The University of St. Thomas has received another in-state verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Elizabeth Bonneville of Lakeville, Minn.
She will join fellow in-state standout Ashley Plantenberg as a member of the Tommies’ Class of 2025.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The University of St.Thomas. I want to thank my coaches, friends, and family for helping me make this decision. Go Tommies!”
Bonneville does her club swimming with Riptide and recorded six top-15 finishes at Minnesota Seniors in March after notching three best times at Juniors West in December. In summer 2019, she notched five best times at Minneapolis Sectionals before going on to place sixth in both the 800m free and 400m IM at Minnesota LCM Seniors.
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 52.46
- 200 free – 1:52.66
- 500 free – 4:59.15
- 1000 free – 10:21.48
- 1650 free – 17:22.13
- 400 IM – 4:33.60
Also competing for Lakeville South High School, Bonneville placed 12th in the 500 free as a sophomore at the Minnesota Class AA State Championships. She won the 100 back and was the runner-up in the 200 IM at the Sectional Meet in 2018 as well.
Bonneville marks the Tommies’ second commitment as they become the only program in recent NCAA history to transition directly from DIII to DI. Under head coach Scott Blanchard, St. Thomas has won four Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships and will join the Summit League next year.
