Richard Franklin One of Four Set To Be Named Denver’s Father of the Year

DENVER, Colorado, June 13. RICHARD Franklin, the father of Olympic champion Missy Franklin, will be honored this evening as one of Denver's Fathers of the Year in a ceremony hosted by the American Diabetes Association.

Held just three days before Father's Day is celebrated in the United States, the event will honor Franklin and three others, men who “were chosen for their ability to balance their personal and professional lives and to serve as role models for their children, while making a positive difference in their community,” according to an article in the Denver Post.

The others to be lauded tonight are former Denver Nugget basketball player Bill Hanzlik; Ed Haselden, chairman and chief executive officer of Haselden Construction; and Adam Sayers, co-founder and executive vice president of Axia Energy.

In addition to raising the most-decorated female swimmer of the 2012 Olympics, Richard Franklin is executive director of Cleantech Open, a nonprofit organization that works to “find, fund and foster entrepreneurs with big ideas that address today's most urgent energy, environmental and economic challenges,” according to the company's website.

The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center.
