Regan Smith and Gianluca Urlando Highlight Winter Junior Nationals West Psych Sheet

With the USA Winter Nationals behind us, the swimming world will shift its focus to the junior ranks with the Winter Junior Nationals set to go off on Wednesday. The meet will be split between west and east with the west meet taking place in Austin, Texas, while the east meet will be in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The west meet will feature some big names with national team member Regan Smith in attendance, although she will not be swimming any backstroke events. Instead, she is entered in the 500 free, 200 free, 100 free and 200 fly.

One of USA Swimming’s breakout stars in 2018 was Gianluca Urlando out of California. He placed third in the 200 fly this summer at Nationals, just missing a place on the Pan Pac team. Urlando is a junior in high school and already pledged his verbal commitment to the University of Georgia. Urlando is entered in the 200 IM, 50 free, 100 fly, 100 back, 200 back and 200 fly this weekend.
