GREENSBORO- Cal’s Rachel Bootsma said it best via social media, “Oh what a difference one year can make.” After a disappointing showing at NCAAs last year, Bootsma is a girl on a mission this year. She zoomed to a 100 back victory on night two of NCAAs, coming off an invigorating win in the 200 medley relay. She took down formidable competitor UVA’s Courtney Bartholomew with a 50.03 in the 100 back. She’s inching closer to Coughlin’s 13-year old record of 49.97.

Here she chats about racing a childhood rival, not knowing what to expect in the 100 back, and the steadfast support she has received from her Cal family.
