NEW COMMIT: Multiple time YMCA National qualifier Reid Greer has announced his commitment to swim for Lehigh University beginning next fall. Greer is a captain for the Moorestown High School Quakers and swims year round for the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties YBCC Phoenix Swim Team at the Mt. Laurel YMCA.

Greer said of his decision,

“I chose Lehigh because of the great mix of athletics and academics. The coaches and the team were great as well.”

Greer has improved tremendously over the last three years, including setting lifetime best times in two of his best events (200 fly and 500 free) just last month at the UDAC Rocktoberfest. His best times include:

  • 500 Free 4:39.03
  • 200 Free 1:44.43
  • 200 Fly 1:54.64
  • 100 Fly 52.02

Greer has been knocking huge chunks of time off his 500 free over the past several years. He’s already only four seconds shy of what it took to make last year’s Patriot League 500 freestyle B final. He’ll join a training group that next fall will feature juniors Walker Wilson (4:30.89), Danny Brooks (4:33.95), and Nic Lastauskas (4:43.17).

Greer’s best 200 fly time is just tenths shy of earning a second swim at the Conference Championship. Lehigh had two seniors final in that event last year, and only three swimmers in total race the event, meaning Greer brings in some needed depth to that events.

His club coach Chris Brookover shared,

“Reid is great kid with a ton of upside, this is a great opportunity for him and I know Lehigh will benefit from his efforts for the next four years.”
